Yes, this little two year old was one of the most articulate 2 year olds I've ever spoke to. She was so adorable. I love listening to little ones talk, especially when they are so little and talk so "big". It cracked me up! We had so much fun! I wish I would have taken video of this session to share!

I FINALLY got to meet Little Miss A this weekend...after having to reschedule TWICE due to the wonderful weather we've had lately! We sure tried to get these newborn images done before two weeks old...but it just didn't happen! But so it goes! She is such a little sweetheart! And a cuddle bug! She didn't want to stay asleep though...my touch would startle her everytime, and hats or headbands...almost impossible. Poor thing, I felt so bad! But she did a great job and we did manage to get some cute sleeping baby shots!

While admiring the pet photography of Vine Images in Burlington, Ontario, Canada...both of my daughters came in and ooohh'ed and awe'ed over all the cute images of puppies...and then we saw this cat. They both immediately said..."Let's do Zoe's picture like that!" I reluctantly agreed, as I knew how hard it would be. But they were so excited! {Zoe on the other hand...not so excited. The cat treats you see on the ladder...didn't work.} I love the last one, she's glaring at me. Just priceless. I think I'll frame it.

I have to say it again. I love my job! It gives me the opportunity to hug and squeeze on squishy newborns! And send them home with Mommy and Daddy!! The ultimate baby fix! ☺ This little gal did so good! Once we got her to sleep, she let us do whatever we wanted to her! Well, almost. She woke up a few times, but went right back to sleep! I'm still behind on blogging...I swear it was just October, now it's December 31st. Where did November and December go? Where is life's "pause" button?????

2010 was a year of re-branding for me. Memories that Last changed to Jenni B Photography in January, and it has been an absolutely wonderful year. I wanted to take a moment and thank all of my clients for a wonderful 2010. Your continued support and loyalty has helped make 2010 a huge success. If you didn't make it on the blog this fall, stay tuned. I'll hopefully have my "Jenni B Photography 2010 Year of Photos" slideshow up on the blog in January. I'll admit, I've been spending time with my family over break, and haven't been on the computer much. And it has been a nice little break! But I'll be back at it soon, and will soon update the old blog!! {Better blogging was a 2010 resolution...guess what, it's on the list for 2011 as well!!}

I always say, "God gave me girls for a reason". "God will only give you what you can handle". Nothing against boys...AT ALL! It's just the climbing, running, no fear attitudes of most young boys scares me to death. Ok, so I'm a little over protective. But anyway...this young man, was like none I'd ever met. I'm not sure if Mom put the fear of God him since it was picture day ☺, or if he is always this polite and well mannered. But I tell you what, I could have photographed him all day. I saw this little one just a few months ago for her newborn session, and my how she has changed in just a few short months! This one is a cuddle bug I tell ya! I had the pleasure of photographing Chrystan and Adam's wedding last Saturday at Providence Baptist Church and it was a perfect fall day. (Minus the slight rain showers that occured while we were all inside, thank you Mother Nature!) I really enjoyed working with Adam and Chrystan. Their love for each other was apparent throughout the day. And they have such loving and supporting families.

Sweet Baby Girl! ~ Kansas City Newborn Photographer

Okay, I have to admit, I'm quite good with newborns. I've come to call myself the baby whisperer. I've had a so many in a row, that did exactly what I wanted them to, when I wanted them to do it. And in my mind, I thought it was all me! However, Miss A reminded me that I was not a baby whisperer, and no matter what I did, she did not want to sleep for her session! Once, mom got her to sleep, all swaddled up. I got a couple sleeping shots and tried to unwrap her to pose her differently, and she woke right back up. I will say though, she does have the most amazing eyes!!! She was so alert and seemed to watch me work. Maybe we have a future photographer on our hands??? ☺ Anyway, I had a great time meeting her and got some cute shots with here amazing eyes wide open! Enjoy!

First, I have to share where we got the adorable hot pink and zebra pettiskirts.....COSTCO! While shopping with a friend, we spotted them and between myself and a total of 4 friends and a few trips to Costco, I think we purchased 12 of them! They probably still have some...so go check them out!
Second, I found the secret to getting my girls to enjoy a photo session again. Invite their BFF's along, and they're all about it. Nice change from the normal, "Ughh, more pictures Mom?" to, "yay-lets do this!"

I swear, yesterday...it was June, and now-here in a couple days, it'll be August. Where did July go? If you're wondering what I've been up to, well-we've been so busy with summer stuff, that time just got away from me! We always go on vacation in July and this year was no different. We went to St. Louis, Springfield, Branson, and Chicago. {All in July!} And I've got to keep up with the girls schedules...with planned activities, their social activities, and calling Mix 93.3 752 times to win Justin Bieber tickets...well, it's been hard to keep up with the old bliggity blog! I must say...I'm secretly a little bit excited that school is starting back up in a couple weeks. I'm warn out! But sshhhhh...don't tell the girls!!!!! And by the way, we did not make it to see Justin Bieber...maybe next time he comes to KC. Vintage cameras. It all started with the Kodak Brownie Hawkeye that my Grandmother gave me. It fascinated me, thinking about all the memories of my dad that camera captured. Now every time I visit an antique store-I scour the place for vintage cameras. Some of mine work, some are just fun to look at. And the ones that don't work make a super fun prop! Little Ms K. came to see me to celebrate her first birthday and this time she brought her big brother to jump in some shots too. She's pretty fond of her bubba. And bubba was pretty fond of Bob the Goldfish! This image was a replication of a portrait mom had done of him when he was one. This time, he was a little over protective of Bob. Such a good fish owner!☺ I hope Bob is doing well!

Inspired by the book fair at school, from which - they both picked out POSTERS and ERASERS, (not books), my daughters (6 and 8) decided to have their own "Poster Sale". They were quietly working together for hours on their artwork. (yay for quietly coloring, not fighting, etc). Then announced the opening of the Poster Sale, the pricing, and their hours of operation. Big posters were $0.50 and the small ones were $0.25. Of course I fell in love and bought 6, and my husband bought a few too. {I do see a lot more of this in the future, as they were thrilled with our purchases}. And their "posters" were so cute, I thought I'd turn their artwork into a nice new bracelet for me! Isn't it adorable?

I took the following images with my 50 mm 1.4 lens and a HOYA +4 close up filter. This close up filter gives you a focusing range in the centimeters!! And has a very shallow depth of field. I must say, probably one of my best GARAGE SALE purchases in a long long time! Yes, I picked up this filter at a garage sale in the fall, not knowing what it did, and if it would fit any of my lenses. But figured for $5 it would be worth a try! And it was.

These time pieces are from Mr. Kennedy's collection. Stop in to see the rest, as there are some beautiful, museum quality pieces that you've got to see to believe.

I was recently comissioned by my FAVORITE jewelry store to take images of their store for their website. (And yes, I made it out of there without buying anything honey.) I thought it might be fun to share some before and after shots.

To make sure I didn't loose detail in the showcases or out the windows, I took multiple exposures at the store. Exposing for ambient room light, showcase light, and the windows. Oh, and when you plan to do this...use a tripod of course. Once the images were in photoshop, I "sandwiched" all images together, using layers, creating one final image that shows detail in all areas of the scene,including the windows and showcases. I'm sure to some, this may sound like a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo....and it is, but I love it. Stay tuned for some portrait retouching before and afters as well!

I have found that with pre-teen girls, all you have to do is turn on a fan, and boom-instant super model. I've always used a fan for seniors and boudoir sessions, but hadn't tried it on pre-teen girls, until now. I'm in love, and I think they are too. A special thank you to my 8 year old super model who gave me the inspiration! And here is her BFF...making her debut...I couldn't decide between color and black and white...I love them both!

Change is in the air. {Very cold air that is!} In the coming weeks, stay tuned!!! You will notice some exciting changes! Of my many resolutions...I will blog more!! A new site is on the way. Contests. New backdrops should be here any day. (woot woot!) New studio equipment arrived yesterday. And some new branding. I'm very excited! This week was suppose to be the week - to start my new business year, off and running. Well, with all the snow days we've had...I've been making zubber bracelets, making EZ bake oven cookies, and well, enjoying the kiddos. So stay tuned and stay warm!!!!

Just a quick note about a fun night for the kiddos!!!! The Richard C Green, Sr. Family Center is hosting Boo Bash on October 24 from 6-9 pm. There will be treats and games and they will have a moon bounce, a hanted house and a hay ride! And don't forget to stop by and see Frankie in his lab!
